My husband and I are figuring out the empty nest syndrome. Our children fled to the big city lights of Kansas City; how you gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen grand KC? We don't live on a farm, but our smaller city life doesn't offer the same opportunities as a major metropolitan area.
Our son, Bojojr, and his wife, Bumberjean, moved to KC directly after college. They both worked full-time at a major insurance company while getting their Master's degrees. Bojoette, our daughter and youngest, graduated from nursing school in spring 2010 and found a wonderful job with a dermatologist in KC. She lives about ten minutes away from her brother, which gives Mom and Dad peace of mind and makes it very handy for visiting. We keep the highway busy running back and forth!
I'm a lifelong reader, so I'd love to hear your latest good read. I love to talk books!
I enjoy taking photos, and I'm trying to improve my knowledge of how my camera works. Expect to see lots of pictures of our children and roses. You've been warned. :)
Oh, and for money to enjoy my leisure activities, I work for the family electrical contracting business. No hardhat for me--I do paperwork from home.

"I once heard a fellow novelist call writing 'successful schizophrenia'--we invent people and worlds that don't exist; but instead of being medicated, we are paid for it." ~Jodi Picoult

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gifted ability, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace from that day. We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing that we can do is play on the one string that we have and this string is, Attitude. I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety percent how I react to it. And so it is with you....We are in charge of our Attitudes." ~ Charles Swindoll
"A good marriage is like the TARDIS: from the outside it looks small and narrow and banal, but to those inside it's broad and exciting and spacious." ~ paraphrased by kiwi_kimi
